The burned bridge north of mile marker 108 near Iola has now been repaired. The supports have been sandblasted
and examined and today the sides of the bridge were installed. The trail is now fully navigable at this location.

A Thrive Allen County meeting was held this evening to organize a group to spearhead the development of the trail from Iola to Humboldt. Next week the group of about 12 persons intends to travel the distance on 4-wheelers to assess what work may be needed. Early estimates report that 600 tons of limestone screenings would need to be put in place. The trail rights for this leg are reported to be held by the Sunflower Rails to Trails Conservancy.

A local powered parachute and photography enthusiast is being consulted in hopes of obtaining low in-flight photographs of this portion of the former railroad. If this happens and I can get a hold of them I will send them to BSP.
