Colony Diner – Good Food and Good Prices

I was greeted at the door and quickly welcomed into the diner. I stat a a comfortable table and surveyed the menu. I think the only that made sense to have was the quintessential diner food, the burger. There was a salad bar, but after about twenty miles, I wanted a burger. Also, it was $2.59.

I received a hand-formed, well-done burger that was just what I needed.

Service was fast and friendly and several patron were interested in the out-of-towner. I answered several questions about where I started and where I was going. Most of them seemed interested in what I thought of the trail.

We had a nice chat about the trail, the weather and all the other things that people talk about in a small town diner.

I will be back.

My steak was a half-round I think because it covered half of the plate. The other half was filled with mashed potatoes/gravy and peas, and topped with a dinner roll. These country helpings were just right for me since my lovely had made us gigantic chef salads the evening before. Still, the bar here had several nice choices, all covered and on ice.

The prices were great as well. For example, a double cheeseburger costs less than 4.10. The one I saw at a nearby table would have been difficult for me to finish..with a fork that is because I couldn’t have gotten my mouth around it. 🙂 Will try a breakfast there sometime too.
