posted in: In The News 0

nbc-logo-280Three months into the 2016 Prairie Spirit Trail Challenge, our communities have ridden over 10,500 miles. The standings at the end of July:

  1. Iola: 93 riders, 8049 miles (+3173)
  2. Garnett: 4 riders, 1529 miles (+517)
  3. Humboldt: 27 riders, 634 miles (+116)
  4. Ottawa: 16 riders, 335 miles (+8)
  5. Colony: 0 riders
  6. Princeton: 0 riders
  7. Richmond: 0 riders
  8. Welda: 0 riders

With three months in the books, and just two months left, the standings are pretty firm. Iola at #1, Garnett at #2, neither Humboldt or Ottawa doing much to move forward, and the rest still stuck at the starting line.

For comparison, the communities along the other long-distance rail-trail in Kansas, the Flint Hills Nature Trail, have ridden only about 390 miles (Osawatomie 32, Ottawa 335, Osage City 24).
