The Sunflower Foundation Board of Trustees has awarded just over $250,000 to seven communities and one school district to build new trails, or connect and enhance existing trails. Congratulations to our very own City of Ottawa! and other awardees: Andover-Augusta Rail-Trail Initiative, City of Basehor, Fort Scott, Minneola, Overland Park, Pittsburg, and USD348 Stafford Schools!

Ottawa received $13,865 to build a 1,600-foot-long eight-foot-wide connector trail using crushed limestone. The trail will link the trailhead of the Prairie Spirit Trail to the Flint Hills Nature Trail.
