The city of Iola has announced that it has received $413,000 grant from the federal Department of Transportation to extend the Prairie Spirit Trail. This grant will pay for over 80% of the construction costs and will be available in 2011-12.
The trail will extend south across town to Riverside Park which will provide access to restrooms and showers at the municipal pool. Our sources also state that this will bring the trail close to the local Dairy Queen.
