Friends of the Prairie Spirit TrailThe Friends of the Prairie Spirit Trail is an active group of civic volunteers, headquartered in Garnett, that has adopted the Prairie Spirit Trail, leading a variety of trail-related activities year-round, including many walking and cycling events.

The Friends meet monthly, and have an annual dinner to celebrate the trail and to raise money for trail-related projects.

Since the early 1990’s the Friends of the Prairie Spirit Trail have been more than just trail advocates. They’ve been a major community support group. The Friends group always finds ways to have fun. From Chocolate Night in February, soup dinners in the winter to summer picnics and ice cream socials, these volunteers share a balance of labor and love with everyone who becomes a Friend.

The Friends hold monthly trail information meetings, sponsor trail events, and raise funds to provide amenities along the trail, such as benches, trash receptacles, picnic shelters, and tables. A monthly newsletter is provided to members, describing trail news and events, and new legislation that affects trails statewide.

The Friends of the Prairie Spirit Rail Trail also have a variety of sale items including shirts, water bottles, patches and other apparel with proceeds to be used for trail enhancements.
