The Prairie Spirit Trail is a Kansas State Park, and as such, it has a daily access fee, just like all the other state parks in Kansas. The fee is very modest, and goes towards supporting the trail and its professional staff.
A separate per-person trail pass is required to use the trail for persons 16 years of age and over, except in the city limits of Iola, Garnett and Ottawa. $3.50 self-issue day permits are available at trailheads. Annual permits are available for $12.50 where KDWPT licenses and permits are sold.
Please note that State Park personnel have the authority to arrest or to issue a citation that requires a court appearance for permit violations.
