Prairie Spirit Trail Repaired in Iola

The City of Iola has completed repairs on two portions of the Prairie Spirit Trail within the city.

The asphalt surface of the trail had developed large longitudinal cracks over the past few years, leading to hazardous conditions for bicyclists and pedestrians. Rather than replace the asphalt, the city opted to install limestone screenings on a short segment of the trail, south of Miller Road:

Further north, between Miller Road and Oregon Road, a small bridge had been a long-standing source of problems, including potholes and washouts. In this case, the city replaced the bridge approaches with concrete, which should be a long-lasting repair:
