The Midland Railway Historical Association invites bicyclists to ride the Midland Railroad from Baldwin City to Ottawa on June 20th.
The train will leave the Baldwin City Depot at 9am for an 11-mile ride to Ottawa. Riders can disembark, with their bikes, about a half mile north of the Old Depot Museum, then ride the Prairie Spirit Trail and/or the Flint Hills Nature Trail. The train begins its return trip at 3pm.

To sign up for the event, RSVP to peach@thesandbar.com or director@visitottawakansas.com, or call 785-242-1411. A $10 donation is suggested to help support the Midland Railway Preservation Association.
This is the second such trip. The first was April 25th, when the Midland Railway delivered riders to Ottawa for the Trail Open House at the Old Depot Museum. The trip was sponsored by Sandbar Subs in Lawrence. The following photo was taken at the famous “Nowhere, Kansas” sign along the route (photo courtesy of Sandbar Subs):
Additional excursions are planned for July 18th, August 15th, and September 19th.
